Disney to change All-Star Cafe

July 28, 2007

The Official All-Star Cafe at Disney's Wide World of Sports -- a full-service, sports-bar themed restaurant specializing in half-pound hamburgers, sandwiches and salads -- will be closed this fall and replaced by a new "fast casual" restaurant to be named later, Walt Disney World confirmed Friday. The Disney-owned cafe will close Sept. 23. The new Disney-owned restaurant should reopen Nov. 20 offering counter service sandwiches, soups and salads prepared fresh daily, said Disney World spokeswoman Kim Prunty. She said customer surveys showed that many athletes and spectators preferred a restaurant where they could get fresh food fairly quickly between sports matches, rather than a place for leisurely meals.
