One of my favorite places in Walt Disney World is Epcot. For some reason I always end up visiting this park the most or longest during a trip. (and yes, for those who have been reading the blog for a while, Illuminations might have to do something with it too). In October Epcot is turning 25 years young. I was looking forwards being there at the beginning of this celebration (My next trip is October 2007). I guessed with the 25th anniversary I might end up even more in the park…
But, Brad Rex, the Vice President of Epcot, told whole other stories to Deb Wills of All Ears Net;
… although 2007 marks Epcot’s 25th anniversary, there was no big celebration planned, although there would be private observances behind-the-scenes for cast members.
What a disappointment! No party for a park that is turning 25? Personally I think this is a big mistake. The park needs to be given the attention it deserves. A 25th celebration only comes once and this would be an opportunity to come out to the public and show them how awesome this park has been over the 25 year life span. I understand that they can’t do a party like the 50th anniversary of Disneyland, but wouldn’t the fans and general public give positive reactions on Epcot and its 25th if it would be out in the open. Let us hope management changes their mind (very soon) on this and we will get some sort of celebration. It doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to happen!
And if not, Epcot… I’ll be there and celebrate it with you…
