KINGS MILLS - Mickey Mouse and the Kings Youth Cheerleaders have something in common.
They will both be in Disney World on March 17 and 18.
The Kings Youth Cheerleaders recently won first place in its division at an AmeriCheer Regional Cheerleading competition.
The cheerleaders' very spirited parents won the girls the title of Most Spirited School at the competition as well.
The girls scored high enough to win a bid to attend the International AmeriCheer Championship in Disney World March 17 and 18.
They've spent months outside of their regular season of cheering for Kings Youth Football perfecting their routine, which consists of two dances, a cheer and a chant.
"I'm very proud of the girls. They worked extremely hard. They have a couple of hard practices left, then we're going to have a lot of fun."
The girls and their families will fly to Disney World on Friday, enjoy a day of fun at Disney, then compete Saturday and Sunday.
And though these girls have worked hard to get to the competition, they're looking forward to the fun just as much as the competition, which, by the way, they say will be fun, too.
Sixth-graders Emily Glasser and Lindsay Milligan say they both want to throw their roundoff tucks at competition.
Rhyann Neal, a fifth-grader, says she wants to make people happy with the cheers.
"I think it will be really interesting to perform in front of judges and people and I think it will be a good experience," said sixth-grader Jessica Kenney.
The girls have other goals, too.
Ashlee Mathews, a fourth-grader, can't wait to "ride all those rides." Fifth-grader Scarlett Hall wants to visit the Sci-Fi Dine In restaurant in the park.
And when asked what she's looking forward to the most, second-grader Delaney Schueler said simply, "being in the newspaper," a comment that induced adoring giggles among her older teammates.
Other girls on the team are Kennedy Fails, Emily Douglass, Brooke Overstreet and Meagan Milligan.
